Blog Action Day 2008 – Poverty – organizations and causes with outstanding websites

Blog Action Day 2008, for those of you that are involved please jump to the next paragraph, and for you that need a little more information here is what Blog Action Day is, an initiative was brought in 2007 by leaders of the blogging community as a way to bring bloggers from all over the world to write about a common topic to capture the attention of organizations, leaders, and the general public opinion.

Today, once again bloggers are united by Blog Action Day 2008 – Poverty, each one of us contribute to a great action that needs to be addressed not only to organizations and governments but to each one of us individually.

We are proud of being part of the Blog Action Day once again and we present you a list of 12 great causes and organizations with outstanding webdesign. Lets be part of the solution and lets take action today by joining the causes that appeal more to you and that gets you close to the ideals you behold.

Blog Action Day 2008 – Poverty, Today thousands of bloggers will unite to discuss a single issue – poverty. We aim to raise awareness, initiate action and to shake the web!



Change.org, aims to address this need by serving as the central platform informing and empowering movements for social change around the most important issues of our time.

Compassion, Share your love, prayers and support with a boy or girl who lives in poverty.

Concern, is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organisation dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries.

End Poverty 2015, its main goal is to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger.

Kiva, connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty Kiva is the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to unique entrepreneurs in the developing world.

Micro Place, help alleviate global poverty by enabling everyday people to make investments in the world’s working poor.

Millennuim Promise, investing in health, food production, education, access to clean water, and essential infrastructure, these community-led interventions will enable impoverished villages to escape extreme poverty once and for all.

One is nonpartisan; there’s only one side in the fight against global AIDS and extreme poverty.

Oxfam, is a confederation of 13 like-minded organizations working together and with partners and allies around the world to bring about lasting change.

Street Smart 4 Kids, is a non-profit organization that works in partnership with San Francisco restaurants to help homeless children get the help they need.

Stand Up, Stand Up is a global mobilisation to end poverty and inequality
