Dear Santa… A Web Designer’s Holiday Wish!

Dear Santa: as you may already know, I’ve been an undeniable good boy this year. Yes, that’s right, I didn’t get wasted on any weekday, I did behave my best while partying with my friends and family, I even called my mother twice this year, I did not stalk my friends’ lives on Facebook, I got to talk about my Digg, Stumble and Delicious addiction with my girlfriend… I’m definitely using them less.

To stop telling you what you already know, I will shamelessly ask you for my holiday’s present this year, I don’t expect you will make this happen over night, so I will monitor the progress next year. You know that I’m a Web Designer Superstar, and my wish is design related, I’m probably selfish on my wish for this year, but please understand me.

Santa… please bring some graphic maturity to the internet, and yes, yes I know this will be absolutely hard to reach, at least start with the following 50 sites…

I don’t really see what’s wrong with Daily Blog Tips, Smashing Apps, and TwiTip – I actually think they serve their purpose quite well. Perhaps you could explain your logic behind these.

Other than that, I agree, there are a few big name sites that would do well with a redesign.

@brian, I think that the guys at smashing apps do a terrific job putting together that quantity of valuable content, but the site lack of intuitive navigational tools, an a more attractive social approach, like features of comments, community news… makes it a little complicated to navigate through the site, a very good example of a similar site with great content and community news is http://cssglobe.com/ about Twitip is one of my favorite sites, and my daily doses of Twitter, I only wander when Darren – http://www.problogger.net/ will be doing a revamp or even better a twitter like style, yet again other example of a site with not so intuitive navigational needs, like search option, subscribes and other little viral tools, when comes to Daily Blog Tips, is only the lack of an original design, I think is just a little to safe, the perfect example is recently design of http://www.makeuseof.com/ that came from a safe design to a complex and sexy approach.

@skyler I think they all are great exponent of the Blogging community, but indeed they need some help when comes to a Web Design point of view.

@toptenz, I have discovered great top 10 lists on your site, and I will love to see a more mature design to match that great content of yours

[...] Santa! I’m also taking this opportunity to follow up on an open letter to Santa from last year. Great news, 14 took the leap for a redesign from a list of 50 that I’ve wished that redesign [...]
